Kate Byus
Inaugural Class of 2009
Kate Fanter Byus is a Marketing Manager at R&R Realty Group, one of the largest real estate development and property management firms in Iowa. R&R currently owns and manages over 5 million square feet of office, retail, multi-family, and warehouse facilities, as well as over 300 acres of land for future development. As a full-service real estate company, subsidiary services include: construction management, brokerage, development, acquisitions, property management, and technology services. Kate’s focus is on leasing property, especially office. Current clients include Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Cisco, Barnes & Noble, John Deere, Kemin, LWBJ, the FBI, and Mercy Clinics.
Kate recently moved back to Des Moines after living in Chicago for 10 years, and graduating from Amherst College in Massachusetts. She’s found the development in the greater Des Moines area to be impressive, both from professional and cultural standpoints, and Kate has really enjoyed becoming reconnected to her hometown. She is especially excited about her new involvement with the YMCA Camp board, and Iowa Historical Foundation committee work.
Kate and her husband Kelsey are very busy at home with daughter Parker (26 months) and son Ben (9 months). Most weekends you can find them having fun outside—biking, hiking, picnicking, playing in the garden, or at a park, often with friends and extended family. Right now crayons and Sesame Street are “high culture” in the house!
