Class of 2011

Geoff Murtha is a financial advisor with MassMutual Financial Group in West Des Moines. It is his commitment to provide his clients with strategies that will offer the flexibility and opportunity to meet the goals they have set for themselves, their families and their businesses.

Born and raised in West Des Moines, Geoff graduated from Valley High school, participating in wrestling, baseball and football and received academic honors throughout his four years. Geoff attended Simpson College in Indianola where he received his B.A. in Management as well as Economics, specializing in Finance and was named to the Dean's List. As an athlete, he was captain of the wrestling team and an Academic All-American.

Geoff is heavily involved with the West Des Moines Chamber as an ambassador, and also as an original member of the New View steering committee. Other activities include the Urbandale Chamber, Indianola Chamber, Lions Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as being an officer of the Rising Leaders BNI.

In his free time, Geoff enjoys reading, wrestling, baseball, mentoring and coaching. As a lifelong resident of West Des Moines, Geoff feels it is important to use his experience with the WDM Leadership Academy to find ways to become more involved and stimulate more interest in the community for families and business.
