Jan Myers

Class of 2011
Jan Myers is the director of the Mercy Children’s Center at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Mercy is a large metropolitan hospital that includes Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines and Mercy Centerville, located in Centerville, Iowa.
As the director of clinical operations, Jan has 24 hour accountability, responsibility and authority for all patient care activities, unit operations and staff development. Jan manages 3 departments at Mercy. These include the pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric inpatient unit and community outreach. These departments are multi-disciplinary with over 90 employees in a variety of roles including nurses and support staff.
Jan graduated with a diploma in nursing from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1992. She completed her Bachelors in Nursing at the University of Iowa in 2007 and a Masters in Nursing Administration from the University of Iowa in 2012.
Jan was awarded as one of Iowa’s 100 Great Nurses in 2007 and selected as a member of the 2011 Forty under 40 class.
Jan is a member of several professional organizations including the Society of Pediatric Nurses and the Iowa Organization for Nurse Leaders. Jan serves as a board member for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa, as well as, the Shoot for a Cure planning board with the Iowa Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Jan also serves as the president of the PTA at her son’s elementary school.
Jan currently resides on an acreage near Colfax with her husband Steve and their two sons. Jared is 14 and Justin is 8. In her time away from work and community events, Jan enjoys attending her son’s sporting event, the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with friends and family.
