Since late 2010, I have worked at Edaptive Systems in West Des Moines as a Clinical Analyst. Edaptive is a contractor for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Physician Quality Reporting System. As CMS looks to reward healthcare providers for the quality instead of the quantity of healthcare services provided, our team provides CMS with guidance on making that transition. My job includes providing health informatics expertise and addressing healthcare providers’ concerns and ideas for improvements to the program.
Despite my repeated attempts to leave Iowa, ever since growing up in Mason City, I find myself missing the people and way of life and keep returning. At Middlebury College in Vermont I studied German and Biochemistry and then returned to Iowa obtain a Master’s in Healthcare Administration at the University Of Iowa College Of Public Health. Prior to relocating to Des Moines, I lived in Chicago for 7 years, working in strategic planning at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. My responsibilities included program planning and growth along with financial and clinical performance analysis.
During my time in Chicago, I was an active volunteer in Children’s Memorial Hospital’s tutoring program and our church. I reside in Urbandale with my wife Sarah and two sons, Thomas and James. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, biking, skiing, and sailing.
