Chef John Weiler
Bio: Chef John had 11 years of Hy-Vee experience before taking his current role as a store chef at the Urbandale location. He has worked in several roles in the grocery department and at several locations before switching to the kitchen department. He received his culinary training at Iowa Culinary Institute while working in Urbandale in 1998. Since then, Chef John has served as a chef in several different culinary fields. He has worked at country clubs, as a research and development chef, catering manager and chef/owner of The Harvest Restaurant and Catering. Most recently he served as chef partner and operating partner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar for the past 5 years. Fleming’s is renowned for prime beef and 100 wines by the glass, a contemporary iteration of the classic American steakhouse. Chef John is looking forward to crafting menus, event planning for customers and teaching customers how to cook with fresh new ingredients that will bring recipes and dishes to your family table.
