Personal:
While working corporate food service, I was taught cooking methods and skills and was told I was a natural. I graduated with a Culinary Arts degree from Des Moines Area Community College and then worked country clubs and more corporate food services. Later, I worked at the Des Moines Women’s Club for 2 years, until having the opportunity of being the Executive Chef at Terrace Hill, now going on 22 years. I enjoy preparing meals for the First Family as well as preparing dinners and receptions for State business. Some other duties include researching menu plans, procuring food and supplies, washing of pots and pans, and polishing silver! I also work on the Terrace Hill teas and other fundraisers alongside volunteers who help with preparation and service. I am not limited to a printed menu and I enjoy the freedom to be creative. I serve on the committees that make decisions for Terrace Hill fundraisers so that our historic governor’s mansion can be enjoyed by all Iowans and visitors from other states and countries.
