Colleen Frank-Sengpiel was raised on farm in Cherokee, Iowa. She was an all state girls basketball player during the six-player era of the game and feels privileged tohave playedfor a community that so readily made game nights a part of their family activities. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1982 and packed her free spirit in her Ford LTD and drove to Dallas Texas where she worked for a tax and accounting firm. Since relocating back to Des Moines in 1986, she has held a variety of accounting roles. She is currently the Corporate Accounting and Tax Manager for GuideOne Insurance where she oversees accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger processing, and tax/regulatory compliance filings. She is a Certified Treasury Professional and a Board Member of the Iowa Treasury Management Association.
In support of her belief that all young girls deserve a life of possibilities, she mentored an “at risk” youth through “Serve Our Youth” for four years leading up through and beyond her high school graduation. She is continuing this passion through her latest appointment as a Board member for the Young Women’s Resource Center.
She stays active by attending a variety of exercise classes 5-6 days a week. As an avid walker, she has participated in the Des Moines Half Marathon two of the last three years. Colleen resides in West Des Moines with her husband David and they have four children, Eric Sengpiel (Bank of America, Chicago),Scott Sengpiel (Snap-On Tools, Milwaukee), Lauren Cushing (Celebrity Staff, Omaha), and Alan Cushing (Senior at Iowa State University.)
