Ellen Young is an Administrative Assistant of Purchasing Projects at the Hy-Vee corporate office. Hy-Vee has been an employee owned grocery store chain for more than 80 years. Currently, Hy-Vee has 235 stores in eight Midwest states. Ellen joined the Hy-Vee purchasing department in 2003. Ellen manages the special deal electronic buying system for all stores and local markets. She also manages monthly vendor shows at the Store Director meetings and provides support for the Hy-Vee supplier intranet. At Hy-Vee Ellen has served on the Hy-Vee JDRF committee for four years, raising $1 million each year for children with diabetes. Ellen and her husband are also active supporters of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
Ellen earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. While a student at Wartburg Ellen served as the Iowa State President of Phi Beta Lambda, Future Business Leaders of America. She went on to complete her masters in business administration at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Ellen lives in Clive with her husband of five years Chris and their two year old son, Miles..
