Recommendation / Endorsement for the West Des Moines Leadership Academy
West Bank is a strong advocate of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy. We believe it is in the enlightened self interest for everyone to share this view and support the work of the WDMLA in a whatever manner you are able. Developing our future leaders who have a passion for community service and the courage to make difficult decisions are not controversial objectives.
West Bank has benefited from having a West Bank employee participate each year in the developmental experiences offered by the WDMLA. West Bank has in turn provided financial support and made its resources available to assist in curriculum experiences.
We are appreciative of the work being done by the WDMLA to make our community stronger and the ability to avail ourselves of the personal growth and development experiences for our current and future leaders.

Chairman and CEO of West Bank

Shive-Hattery strongly endorses the West Des Moines Leadership Academy and recommends all businesses consider encouraging their employees to apply. We certainly have benefited from our involvement and employee participation and will continue to be a strong supporter of the Academy.
Leadership is very important to the success of Shive-Hattery, and the West Des Moines Leadership Academy is one of the tools we will continue to use for success.
Shive-Hattery has been fortunate to have an employeeinvolved in each of the classes over the last four years. Not only have our employees personally benefited from the experience, our firm collectively has as well.Throughout the class, each individual gained a good perspective of the West Des Moines community and learned of opportunities for involvement. This has helped us continue with our strong support of community involvement. The Academy opened many doors for these individuals leading to community participation.
We have also seen significant leadership growth in thesefour individuals. Their comfort level with serving clients has improved. They are alsodisplaying good leadership skills among their peers in the office. Two of the graduates maintain their relationship with the Academy providing leadership: one through committee work, and the other being the Academy’s Chairfor the 2011-2012 session.

I am proud to say that McGowen, Hurst, Clark & Smith, P.C. has been involved with the West Des Moines Leadership Academy since its inception. Several of our firm members assisted in the formation and development of the organization, serving on the Core Committee and Board of Directors. In addition, from the inaugural class of 2009 until the present, we have encouraged and enrolled a MHC&S firm member in every class.
The investment our firm makes in each member to attend the Leadership Academy has resulted in not only a benefit to MHC&S, but also has strengthened the community bond with the individual. The firm members are able to use the high-level leadership skills and tools learned in class to better interact with clients, prospects and co-workers – making MHC&S the best we can be. It is a win for our community, a win for each individual and a win for MHC&S.
We will continue to be an aggressive supporter of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy knowing that the future of our community is in good hands with the skilled leaders of today and tomorrow.
